In the rainbow flag each color stands for something
different. Red is for life, Orange for healing, yellow
for sun, green for nature, indigo for harmony, and
violet for spirit.
The rainbow flag originally had eight colors, but two
were taken off dues to production constraints.
The two colors that were removed were hot pink
and turquoise. Hot pink stood for sex and turquoise
for art. The flag was designed by Gilbert Baker and
began in 1978.
"My only regret about
being gay is that I
repressed it for so
long. I surrendered my
youth to the people I
feared when I could
have been out there
lovingsomeone. Don't
make that mistake
yourself. Life's too damn
short."
